Frau Polda

Visual Identity

2025

Visual Identity and Shopfront Design for Frau Polda, a family-friendly book bistro located on Leopoldplatz in Berlin, and founded by Svenja Monert and Alessandro Fino. The store combines a small and fine gastronomic offering with a focus on Italian cuisine with a kids friendly bookstore offering readings and cultural events.

In the visual Identity for "Frau Polda", the original tiles found in the building laid the foundation for a signature modular design made of geometric shapes and colours that can be freely rearranged.

The logo is inspired by vintage Italian shop fronts, which are reinterpreted with more modern, rounded lines and idividually designed lettering.

Frau Polda ("Mrs Polda" in German) is depicted as a friendly granny, using a doodle-like illustration style.
